CAMRT has a proud history as a member society of the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists (ISRRT). Indeed, Canada was the host of the first ISRRT World Congress, held in Montreal in 1962, and hosted the ISRRT 50th World Congress and CAMRT 70th Annual General Conference in Toronto in 2012. Throughout ISRRT’s history, Canadian MRTs have played leadership roles on its Board of Management and Council. The CAMRT partnership with ISRRT was recently enhanced by a decision to provide ISRRT Associate Membership to all CAMRT members.
As associate members of ISRRT, CAMRT members assist to provide the resources for financing various educational projects for fellow medical radiation technologists in nations far less fortunate than Canada. These may include, for example, initiatives that assist in the re-building of the medical system in Haiti, educational workshops for some of the African and Central American nations, and assistance with translation of documents into French. Associate members also receive access to the ISSRT News, the official publication of the Society.
